A Coincidence, and Cat and Kids in Cabinet Photo from Kansas

Just for fun I checked out 112 East Douglas Street to see what was there today. I believe 112 is a parking garage with a black screen facade...a Darth Vader effect. But look what was across the street!!! A bronze sculpture of a girl and a cat. I'll be darned.

Fannie's Herman and Vermin

Fannie took this picture. Such a look!! Go to Wikipedia to read more about Fannie. She was a fascinating woman!! This was the courtyard where Herman and Vermin reigned supreme. Frances "Fannie" Benjamin Johnston (15 January 1864 – 16 May 1952) was one of the earliest American female photographers and photojournalists . "An independent and strong-willed young woman, she wrote articles for periodicals before finding her creative outlet through photography after she was given her first camera by George Eastman , a close friend of the family, and inventor of the new, lighter, Eastman Kodak cameras. She received training in photography and dark-room techniques from Thomas Smillie , director of photography at the Smithsonian ."
